Healthy Homemade Nutella
Homemade Nutella! I mean c’mon…This Nutella is ABSOLUTELY delicious, free of refined sugar, free of the hateful 8 oils and comes together in a food processor in just minutes. It actually has many good for you ingredients, unlike the store bought Nutella which is loaded with sugar (it’s the first ingredient) and seed oils. If you love Nutella then you should def give this one a try. You will need:
🍫 2 cups hazelnuts (I used the dry roasted ones from Trader Joes) or you can sub another dry roasted nut of choice
🍫 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
🍫 1/4 c cocoa powder
🍫 1/3 c sweetener of choice, I used date paste- about 6-8 medjool dates processed with about 1/4 c – 1/3 c water until you get a paste consistency, you can add more water to thin it out if you wish
🍫 1/4 tsp salt
🍫 2 tbsp avocado oil
🍫 2-6 tbsp almond milk
Try and remove the hazelnut skins by rubbing them in a towel, or just choose the ones from the bag that do not have the skins on them (that’s what I did!). It’s okay if a few stubborn skins get in there. In a Vitamix or food processor (I used my Cuisinart food processor for this and it worked great), blend the nuts until they’ve turned to nut butter, then add all other ingredients and blend for about 2 minutes until it’s smooth like Nutella! I added in the oil first, and then added in the milk one tablespoon at a time as I blended until I got the consistency I was looking for. You can add an additional tbsp or two of oil as well. Keep blending until nice and smooth and creamy. I stored mine in a mason jar in the fridge. It did not last long AT ALL lol but I am assuming it would keep in the fridge for a week or two.
